New Zealand has a vibrant software sector. Our strong culture of technology innovation and problem solving, coupled with the tyranny of distance, means ‘weightless software’ is an attractive export industry. The lifestyle on offer in this country also helps to attract highly mobile software developers who could live anywhere they want. Furthermore, New Zealand’s excellent infrastructure and demographics make it ideal for market testing. New Zealand’s software industry has particular strengths in health care technology, transport and logistics, and primary industries. We’re also delivering world-leading specialist applications to the security, defence, virtual reality and entertainment industries.
The New Zealand Software Association (NZSA) has a long and proud history of bringing together like-minded, technology-focused entrepreneurs and professionals in the Auckland region for networking, mentoring, professional development and sharing practical business and commercial experiences. Our membership includes some of the country’s top software leaders, strategists, investors, influencers and supporters, as well as entrepreneurs and managers of companies ranging from small emerging businesses to large multi-national operators.
Our events are held on the second Tuesday of the month at Glengarry Victoria Park and feature a two course meal and wine tasting with a professional sommelier. In a recent member survey, nearly 100% of respondents indicated that meeting new industry players and catching up with peers as the top reasons for being part of the NZSA, and many noted the consistently high quality of the venue and speakers.
We are a not-for-profit organisation run by an executive committee of 6-10 volunteers and benefits from sponsorship from Hudson Gavin Martin, IBM, UKTI and Ubiquity. Our organisation works collaboratively with complementary organisations such as Auckland ICT, NZ Technology Industries Association, Institute of IT Professionals, the Canterbury Software Cluster, and others.
