Attract good people and smart money

July 11, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

  • « Platforms: taking software from good to great
  • An Angel at My Table: Call for Entries »
Josh Comrie

New speaker for July’s networking dinner, replacing Rudi Bublitz.

Josh ComrieJosh Comrie has a unique insight into the software industry in New Zealand, having built businesses, invested in many start-ups as well as finding the skills and people that has enabled the industry to expand so rapidly. Josh is Co-Founder of Flying Kiwi Angels, replacing Rudi Bublitz as our speaker in July.

Josh made his first start-up investment 16 years ago. Since then he’s invested in 18 others but he is possibly best known to the software industry for founding Potentia in 2004. He has exited but still retains a seat on the Board of his company which under his guidance became recognized as one of NZ’s leading ICT Human Capital Firms. His current venture is a pioneer in the AI ChatBot space.

Join us to hear Josh Comrie share some great insights on:

  • Resourcing challenges facing start-ups – what still works to attract money and people, what’s changed, and what he is increasingly seeing in 2017.
  • How the NZ start-up scene differs from Australia
  • How established companies now face strong competition for resources from the increasingly diverse range of software companies out there, and what they can do about it
  • What angels really look for, and how this compares to funding from founders, friends, family, and fools.

Flying Kiwi Angels is a group of active investors who bring know-how, connections and funding to NZ start-ups.Josh knows about attracting smart money and getting the right talent on board.

This presentation is a must see for businesses and entrepreneurs looking to achieve rapid growth in today’s challenging business environment. Could be some great tips here for finalists in our An Angel at My Table event in August.

The NZSA is a great opportunity to help advance your business through meeting and networking with Auckland’s software community leaders. Plus, each event includes wine tasting and a two-course meal.
